Finally Home!!
April has been a HUGE month for Rockin' 5C Ranch!!
We got Bacon Bits home after days of trying to get her here. She did not want to load into the trailer so once we got her loaded...it was the wrong trailer. It took a couple late nights and plenty of treats to get her moved. But finally, we got it!
I know it took some adjustment for her but just about the time we thought she would be settled down fully...she was getting ready to go into heat again. This time we were prepared as we had decided to make her a MOMMY!!!
Folks, it took many stressful hours to get to this point. Research, contact, preparation. None of that can make you ready for the actual act of...ARTIFICIAL INSEMINATION!!!
Not really sure how I drew the short straw 🤣 but I was not ready for the task at hand.
Jheramy and me looked as some boars that we felt would help built the genetics that would give us the best piglets so we chose "SledgeHammer" from Maximum Genetics out of Missouri. "SledgeHammer" has an amazing build with great thick legs and is super hairy. We really liked the way he looks and Ryan and Cassandra ha e been an amazing help in handling the semen as this is our first time to ever inseminate a pig.
Alzheimers Charity
This month we also had an opportunity to sponsor a table at the Big Night in the City Alzheimers Charity Event at Union 28 in Midlothian, Texas featuring Roger Creager, Hill Country Revival and many more! We love being able to sponsor or even be part of a great event like this that puts an issue that affects so many people in the forefront and help with the research/development of new treatment options and solutions.
